Prof. Lijun Sun is the 1st China MOE Yangzi River Scholar Professor, Winner of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Vice Chair of Road Engineering Committee in China Highway and Transportation Society, Vice Chair of Committee of Shanghai Highway and Transportation Society, and Director of Infrastructure Committee of Shanghai Science and Technology Committee of Transportation. The main research interests are Pavement Materials and Structures, Highway Asset Management, and Urban Transportation Intelligent Management.

The research and teaching interests are Heavy Duty Pavement Materials and Structures, Management & Rehabilitation & Reconstruction of Asphalt Pavement, Warm Mix Asphalt Martials, Long Life Pavement Design, Rutting Models and Shear Strength of Asphalt Materials, Eco-Road Technologies, and Asphalt Pavement Recycling.

Dr. Zhang Chen, Associate Professor
The main research interests are Management & Rehabilitation and Management System of Transportation Infrastructure (Road, Bridge, Airport, etc.), Including Condition Survey And Assessment, Performance Models, Management & Rehabilitation Strategies.
With the growing increase in traffic loading frequency and load levels on highways in China, the order of magnitude of the cumulative Equivalent Standard Axial Load (ESAL) that pavement structures are required to carry goes up to billions from millions. Therefore, this research team will investigate design and construction and recycling technologies of durable highway pavements for high traffic loading frequency and load levels, which coordinate and integrate pavement performance and behavior, performance and mechanics, structures and materials, and technology, cost, and environment. The goal is to develop an integrated and precision design and constriction methodology for durable and functional pavements for highways new construction, rehabilitation and reconstruction.
