主讲人简介：

Mark Wolters is a principal scientist at BASF Advanced Chemical Corporation, working at the BASF innovation campus in Shanghai. As part of the Digitalization of R&D team at BASF, he provides novel data analytics techniques and statistical support for materials research projects in both regional and global projects. His areas of focus include structure-property relationship modelling, experimental design, optimization, and modelling with physical constraints.

主讲内容简介：

Data analytics has always been an important part of materials research, but various factors (including growth in computational power, the development of machine learning and A.I., and the study of more complex materials systems) have created increased expectations on data science as an accelerator for materials research. At the same time, many materials science problems are strongly limited by insufficient data and/or poor data quality. This talk will give a broad and high-level overview of ways data science can be used in materials research. Several common types of research problem will be described, along with common solution approaches, and keys to success.
