主讲人简介：
Francesca Pagliara is Associate Professor in transportation engineering at the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering of the University of Naples Federico II, in Naples, Italy. She has been visiting Professor in several European and non-European Universities.
She is author of academic books and of more than 100 papers published in journals. She participated at several research projects. Her main fields of research are the wider socio-economic impacts of High-Speed Rail systems, the analysis and quantification of the impact of the transportation system on the tourism market, Public Engagement in the transportation decision-making process and Integrated Land-use/Transport modelling.
主讲内容简介：
Over the course of history there have been several and significant changes in the methods and technologies used to move people and things. Innovations typically follow the distributive and social needs of their time but in some cases, they drive or at least contribute to the social and economic evolution of human communities. The era of rail transport, which began in the 19th century, has been followed by several stages of technological and organizational development, but since 1964 with the inauguration of the Shinkansen in Japan, HSR has become a booster due to its transformative impact on economies and societies. Today there are almost 65,000 km of HSR lines in operation, with China leading with its 45,390 km (UIC). At least top 10 effects can be identified when investing in HSR systems. This report will use the HSR systems of China, Japan, Italy, Spain, and other countries as examples to introduce the top 10 benefits: safest transport deliver, infrastructure capacity enhancer, high energy efficiency provider, congestion problem solver, friend of the environment, tourism promoter, job opportunity creator, economic growth contributor, social equalizer and land-value booster.
