主讲内容简介:
The talk will present the mobility innovations in Barcelona (Spain) from a scientific viewpoint. We’ll start with an introduction about history, a picture of the current mobility patterns of the city, and the concept of “safe flow interaction” sharing common space (sidewalks, bicycle lanes, bus lanes, or streetway). Then, we’ll review the contributions of Ildefons Cerdà, considered the “father” of quantitative city planning and author of the broadening of Barcelona from the medieval city of 1714 to knocking down the medieval walls and filling the field between the main city and several smaller cities that in the 19th Century became quarters of Barcelona. We’ll focus on strategic transportation networks where Prof. Robusté has contributed, briefly describing the scientific principles underneath the layout: inception of the L9 metro line (1991, still under construction), reintroduction of the modern tramways (2004), and design of the orthogonal bus network (2010).
“Complete streets” were also implemented in few urban motorways knocking down the infrastructures and defining a more human or convivial city. The Olympic Games of Barcelona of 1992 were used as goal to finish urban beltways (planed in 1970’s) and recuperating that the city “looks at the sea” again. Some other tactical city planning actions have been implemented such as “super-bocks” (since 1959), sponging the old town creating parks, squares and boulevards, etc.
Other topics less strategic will also be reviewed: neighborhood micro-buses (1988), express buses for the Olympic Games of Barcelona of 1992 (1990), park-and-rides (1990), High Occupancy Vehicles and bus lanes (1992), integration of bicycles and funicular of Catalan Railways Funi&Bici (1993), and designing the integrated fare system for public transportation in Barcelona in 1997 (implemented in 2001).
Finally, we’ll talk about dial-a-ride system or Demand Responsive Transit, Barcelona s Mobility Agreement Plan, promoting walking and cycling, promoting public transportation, and improving city logistics.
