evaluation, road user-targeted programs and safety needs, safety management tools
development, and on fundamental analysis and applied techniquesof rapid safety
measurement. This presentation briefly summarizes several research projects
recently completed or being in their advanced stage: safety performance of
median and roadside barriers, evaluation of the truck rollover risk on new
roundabouts built on high-speed roads, optimal programming and safety
effectiveness of speed enforcement in work zones, identifying young drivers
with propensity for drunk driving, two computer tools for safety management,
and a novel traffic scanner for measuring traffic conflicts at intersections.
