主讲内容简介:
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
announced it would begin working on a regulatory proposal that would require Connected
Vehicle (CV) devices in new vehicles in a future year, consistent with
applicable legal requirements, executive orders, and guidance. DOT believes
that the signal this announcement sends to the market will significantly
enhance development of this technology and pave the way for market penetration
of V2V safety applications. In a connected vehicles environment, diagnostic
sensors are installed on every vehicle to collect data and data are being
transmitted wirelessly between vehicles and nearby infrastructures. It would no
longer have to rely on conventional data collection equipment, like loop
detector or video detections, and it collects much more information than the conventional
ways. Measurements that are previously unknown are now available, which include
but not be limited to: vehicle speeds, positions, arrival rates, rates of
acceleration and deceleration, queue lengths, stopped time and so on. As we
look ahead, we see opportunities to build off CV environment to assess benefits
and seed implementation.
