主讲人简介：

Dr. Fan Yin is an Assistant Director at the National Center for Asphalt Technology (NCAT) and serves as an Associate Research Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Auburn University. He received his B.S. in Transportation Engineering from Southeast University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. His research expertise includes balanced mix design, advanced asphalt materials characterization, and sustainable pavement materials. Dr. Yin has served as a PI or Co-PI on research projects with over $7.0 million in grants. He has over 75 publications and made over 100 presentations at national and international conferences, webinars, and workshops.

主讲内容简介：

Balanced mix design is a new era of asphalt mix design system that relies on mixture performance testing for mix design development and production acceptance of asphalt mixtures. Because of its focus on end-product testing without “recipe” requirements, BMD allows asphalt contractors to truly design for performance while motivating them to be innovative with material selection and production optimization – a mission not fulfilled by the Superpave system. Over the last decade, BMD has become one of the most popular topics among the asphalt research community in the United States, and the implementation of BMD has gained significant momentum among state highway agencies (SHA). This webinar will discuss the need and definition of BMD, BMD approaches for asphalt mix design, nationwide implementation status, and potential benefits, challenges, and research needs associated with BMD implementation.
