Haotian Shi is a tenured Associate Professor at the School of Transportation Engineering, Tongji University, and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars (Overseas). He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and holds multiple degrees across interdisciplinary fields, including Transportation Engineering (Ph.D. and M.S.), Computer Science (M.S. and B.S.), and Power Machinery and Engineering (M.S. and B.S.).

His main research interests include autonomous driving behavior modeling and control optimization, end-to-end algorithm testing and scenario generation, intelligent driver–vehicle interaction, and intelligent connected transportation systems. He has published more than 70 academic papers, including over 20 papers as first or corresponding author in CAS Zone 1 Top SCI-indexed journals such as Transportation Research Part C/E, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, Chinese Journal of Aeronautics? / CACAIE, and Communications in Transportation Research. He has been granted more than 20 invention patents in China and the United States, and has delivered over 40 academic presentations at international conferences such as TRB, INFORMS, IEEE IV, and IEEE ITSC.He has led multiple national and provincial/ministerial-level research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China Excellent Young Scientists Fund Program (Overseas) and the NSFC Young Scientists Fund Program (Category C). He has been selected for the National High-Level Young Talent Program, the Shanghai Magnolia Talent Program (Overseas), and the Shanghai Chenguang Program. His awards include Third Place in the Highway Track of the inaugural OnSite Autonomous Driving Algorithm Challenge guided by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Wisconsin Intelligent Transportation Systems Association Award, the First Prize of the SAE Intelligent Transportation Technology Innovation Award, and the IEEE “Shaping the Future of Intelligent Transportation” First Prize. He serves as a program committee member for international conferences such as AAAI and ITFT, an international committee member of several World Transport Convention technical committees, including Intelligent Cloud Management and Control, Intelligent Connected and Vehicle–Road Cooperative Control, CAV Policies and Regulations, and Intelligent Driving Mobility Services, and is a senior member of the China Highway and Transportation Society.
