Haotian Shi is a tenured Associate Professor at the School of Transportation Engineering, Tongji University, and a recipient of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and holds multiple degrees across interdisciplinary fields, including Transportation Engineering (Ph.D. and M.S.), Computer Science (M.S. and B.S.), and Power Machinery and Engineering (M.S. and B.S.).

His primary research interests include behavior modeling and control optimization for autonomous driving, end-to-end autonomous driving testing and scenario generation, human–machine interaction in intelligent driving, and intelligent connected transportation systems. He has served as PI for three projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), including the Excellent Young Scientists Fund, General Program, and Young Scientists Fund (Category C), as well as multiple other national- and provincial-level research projects. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed papers, including nearly 30 first- or corresponding-author papers in CAS Q1 Top SCI journals, such asTransportation Research Part C/E,IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems,CACAIE, andCommunications in Transportation Research. He holds more than 30 granted invention patents in China and the United States and has delivered over 40 academic presentations at major international conferences, including TRB, INFORMS, IEEE IV/ITSC, and ECCV. He has been selected for a national-level young talent program, the Shanghai Magnolia Talent Program, and the Shanghai Chenguang Program. His honors include Third Place in the Highway Track of the inaugural OnSite Autonomous Driving Algorithm Challenge, held under the guidance of the NSFC; the ITS Wisconsin Award; the First Prize of the SAE Automotive Intelligent Transportation Technology Innovation Award; and the First Prize of the IEEE “Shaping the Future of Intelligent Transportation” Award. He serves as a Program Committee Member for international conferences including ITFT, and as an International Member of several technical committees of the World Transport Convention (WTC), covering intelligent cloud-based traffic management and control, intelligent connected vehicles and vehicle–infrastructure cooperative control, CAV policies and regulations, and intelligent driving mobility services. He is also a Senior Member of the China Highway & Transportation Society.
