Biography
Professor YANG Chao earned his Ph.D. degree in Municipal Engineering from Tongji University in 1999. He worked as Research Assistant at the Department of Civil Engineering in the University of Hong Kong from 1998 to 1999, Research Fellow at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Nanyang Technological University from 1999 to 2002, and postdoctoral scholar at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in Utah State University from 2002 to 2004. He has been working at the School of Transportation Engineering in Tongji University from 2005. He was awarded sponsorship by the Shanghai Rising-Star Program in 2008, and by the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University from the Ministry of Education of China in 2009. He also serves as a Vice Chair of the Young Scientists Working Committee of China Communications and Transportation Association.
Professor Yang has been committed to studies in the areas of transportation planning theory, network traffic flow analysis, and traffic behavior analysis. He is the leader of two projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation and one supported by the 863 Program. He also participates in two projects sponsored by the Major Program of the National Natural Science Foundation, and two 863 Program projects. He has published 39 papers in several prestigious international journals in transportation studies, out of which 21 are indexed by EI and 18 by SCI. By March 2014, his papers had been cited for 97 times.
