Dr. Liao is engaged in long-term research on high-speed maglev and medium low speed maglev technology. He has participated in the scientific research work of the National Science and Technology Ministry's "15th Five Year Plan" 863 High speed Maglev Major Project, "11th Five Year Plan" and "12th Five Year Plan" High speed Maglev Support Program, and "13th Five Year Plan" and "14th Five Year Plan" High speed Maglev Key Research and Development Program. As the overall electrical director of maglev vehicles, he developed China's first high-speed maglev test vehicle and the first high-speed maglev engineering prototype vehicle, which led the development of China's first linear drive logistics test line and the first all element high-temperature superconducting electric suspension test system. He has hosted the research work on multiple provincial and ministerial level projects, including "Research on High Temperature Superconducting Linear Motor Test System and Control Technology" and "Research on Non Contact Induction Power Supply Technology for Medium Speed Maglev Vehicles"; Published over 30 academic papers and applied for more than 20 patents both domestically and internationally.
Main research directions: Integration of electrical systems for high-speed maglev and medium low speed maglev vehicles; power supply technology for maglev vehicles; research on high-power, high-precision linear motors, and motor control technology.
